A Day in the Life of a Virtual Assistant
I awake to the smell of Folgers, that’s right the “Folgers in your Cup” song is going through your head right now isn’t it? No Starbucks for me. I start my day out with a dark blend of Folgers, it’s percolating as my alarm goes off and the smell helps me get out of bed. I stretch out excited to start my day doing the job I love the most.
I wash my face and brush my teeth and head to the kitchen to get my first cup of the day. There will be many more throughout the day I promise you. The aroma and bitter taste puts me in a great mood to start my day. I sit in front of the computer and that’s when the excitement builds. Will I have new clients in my inbox? What will Facebook and Twitter look like? What amazing things will come my way today?
I log into my workstation and begin making my clients lives so much easier…and that sometimes entails commenting on blogs, doing logo design, web design and even graphic design layouts. Once those tasks are completed it is time to make my online presence known and that’s essentially like me walking into a room with my superhero cape billowing out behind me. Standing tall in Virtual Assistant Forums, and social networking sites such as Twitter with an attitude of “I HAVE ARRIVED EVERYONE!” Sometimes I have a flair for the dramatics…
Just before lunch I make sure to finish up any urgent matters that need my attention immediately and then it’s lunch time.
I like to live like the French. In France people take a two hour lunch, it’s true. That’s the glamourous part of my life, I like to do as the French do. I turn off my phone, I get some lunch and I do what most are unable to do…relax. It recharges me for the second half of my day.
When I return I get back to client tasks and then begin promoting my business via social networking. I also make the to-do-list for the next day because the only way I can remain successful is by being disciplined and working my butt off.
I lean back in my chair and stretch, my eyes falling on the ceiling where a sign saying, “Get Back To Work!” resides. Did I say I love my job?
Evenings are when my creative side comes out and I will take some time to write my blogs, which basically write themselves. I check into Twitter again to keep up on things and then he night is mine.
I love my job, I enjoy the work my clients provide me and I work when it suits me, no one tells me what to do and when to do it.
